Choosing one primary acquisition channel for a 30-day test is a resource decision. It concentrates enough audience, creative effort, follow-up, and measurement in one place to produce evidence a founder can use.

Define the channel’s job

A channel may create demand, capture existing intent, build trust, convert interest, or compound referrals. Decide which job matters at the current funnel constraint before comparing platforms. A channel that performs a different job should not be judged by the same immediate conversion target.

Score access and intent first

Rate each candidate from one to five on customer concentration, visible intent, trust, speed of feedback, economics, founder capability, and compounding value. Add the evidence behind every score so confidence is visible.

  • Customer concentration: can you reliably reach the priority segment?
  • Intent: is the buyer already trying to solve the problem?
  • Trust: can the format carry the proof required?
  • Feedback speed: will thirty days produce enough meaningful signals?
  • Economics and capability: can you execute the motion consistently?

Select a primary motion and one support role

The primary motion receives the audience definition, core offer, creative cadence, follow-up capacity, and decision threshold. A supporting channel may redistribute proof or capture branded demand, but it should not create a second full campaign.

Design a fair 30-day test

Specify the audience, promise, offer, activity level, expected response, quality threshold, and maximum cost before launch. Measure meaningful conversations or completed next steps rather than impressions alone.

  1. Use one stable offer.
  2. Run enough repetitions to observe a pattern.
  3. Track time as well as media cost.
  4. Segment outcomes by customer quality.
  5. Write the continue, change, or stop rule in advance.

Know when to change channels

Change the channel when the intended customer is not reachable, the cost cannot support the commercial model, or repeated execution produces too little learning. Keep the channel when the audience and conversations are strong but a specific message, proof, or conversion handoff needs repair.

The useful part

What to take into your next growth conversation

  1. 01Define the job the channel must perform.
  2. 02Score customer access, intent, trust, economics, and learning speed.
  3. 03Write the continue, change, or stop threshold before launch.
